Orestes Comunica worked with Casa de Rosalía to develop a virtual tour system in four languages: Galician, Spanish, French and English. It is an ambitious and different project, due to the contents offered by the visit and its multilingual nature. It is part of the projects that the Casa de Rosalía is developing for its 50th anniversary. It was presented in July 2021.
In the first three months, and as the Casa de Rosalía points out in a statement on its website, the multilingual immersive tour has received more than 44,000 visits, most of them coming from Google Maps (43,309), since it is integrated in this platform, and the rest, 866, through the website of the House-Museum. The data comes from Google itself and from the platform that supports the system, Matterport.
The average duration of the tour is 5 minutes and 20 seconds, and by language, the most visited option is Galician (74%), followed by English (14%), then Spanish (11%) and, finally, French (1%).
The virtual tour, which has been operational since July 8 on this website of the Casa de Rosalía, allows you to visit the House-Museum and the Horta de Rosalía in 3D, with information expanded in almost 40 points. Due to the amount of information that can be found on the tour, this is the most ambitious project to tour a physical space, not just a museum, that has been carried out in Galicia to date using immersive reality tools. For this purpose, equipment based on laser and infrared technology was used to capture the images. Specific computer tools were also used, both to build the route from the images and to facilitate their use.
The incorporation of a menu in which you can choose between 4 different languages for the virtual tour and access to its content is completely pioneering in Galicia and is the result of the collaboration of Orestes Comunica, the Galician company in charge of the development, with an Italian company specialized in the development of software for virtual tours.
